REMOVAL

CAUTION:

Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: AIRBAG SYSTEM: PRECAUTION (2008 Sequoia) .

1. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

2. CUSTOMIZE INFORMATION

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Utility / Customize Setting / Tilt & Telesco.

(e) Turn the auto away/return function OFF.

(f) Turn the ignition switch to ACC.

(g) Operate the tilt and telescopic switch to fully raise the tilt and extend the steering wheel.

(h) Turn the ignition switch OFF.

3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

NOTICE:

When disconnecting the cable some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected INTRODUCTION: REPAIR INSTRUCTION: INITIALIZATION (2008 Sequoia) .

4. REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: STEERING PAD: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

5. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: STEERING PAD: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

6. REMOVE STEERING PAD SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: STEERING PAD: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

7. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY STEERING COLUMN: STEERING WHEEL: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

8. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER STEERING COLUMN: STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY (for Manual Tilt and Manual Telescopic Steering Column): REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

9. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER STEERING COLUMN: STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY (for Manual Tilt and Manual Telescopic Steering Column): REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

10. REMOVE COMBINATION SWITCH STEERING COLUMN: STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY (for Manual Tilt and Manual Telescopic Steering Column): REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

11. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH INTERIOR PANELS / TRIM: ROOF HEADLINING: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

12. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH INTERIOR PANELS / TRIM: ROOF HEADLINING: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

13. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH INTERIOR PANELS / TRIM: INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

14. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LH INTERIOR PANELS / TRIM: INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

15. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD INSERT INTERIOR PANELS / TRIM: INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

16. REMOVE NO. 3 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY



(a) Remove the bolt and air duct.

17. REMOVE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 3 bolts and nut.

(b) Put matchmarks on the steering intermediate shaft and the steering column.

(c) Remove the bolt and steering intermediate shaft from the steering column.

(d) Put matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft and steering intermediate shaft.

(e) Remove the bolt.

(f) Separate the steering intermediate shaft from the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft.

18. REMOVE NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT SUB-ASSEMBLY



(a) Put matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft and power steering gear.

(b) Remove the bolt and No. 2 steering intermediate shaft from the power steering gear.

19. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the connectors and disengage the wire.

(b) Remove the bolt and 2 nuts. Then remove the steering column from the instrument panel reinforcement.
